Rising Cause of Teen Depression

The short lived high teenagers get from using amphetamines or the club drug MDMA, better known as Ecstasy, could lead to longer lasting issues of depression later on in life. Researchers have interviewed 3,800 teens from low income districts in Quebec. Compared to their peers who used neither drug, teens who reported taking MDMA or amphetamines at least once in their high school years had an increase of depression symptoms by 60 to 70%. Using both drugs nearly doubled the odds of depression.

The findings don’t show a cause and effect relationship between the drug use and later depression, but they do come close. Unlike previous research the study was controlled. Taking into account a large vast of other problems that could influence depression, such as problems at home, school, prior history of depression, anxiety, social networks, smoking and alcohol use. The study is just that, a study, but interestingly enough they did find a connection between the drug use and depression.

The use of MDMA and amphetamines, including Meth, is becoming increasingly common among youth of today. Most important is why do teens and young adults turn to using these substances? Its been shown that children that have ADHD are more prone to using these drugs. Possibly due to the brain chemical imbalance that they deal with on a daily basis. These children are becoming high school drop outs and are in for a hard life ahead if the cycle continues.

Not only can this drug cause social problems, this drug can cause death. Between 1999 to 2004 there were 250 deaths reported, due to exstasy, these are only US statisics. But honestly think of all the deaths that were not reported, there are probably thousands of deaths worldwide that this particular drug in combination with other drugs or alcohol. There are real dangers to using this drug, its not just a party drug. It has long term effects on people, especially our children.

It is our job as a united group to help fight for these children and to help expose them to the dangers of these drugs. The lasting effects on this generation of children are going to be a bunch of depressed individuals that have no sense of awakening or stability. If we don’t stop it now, our world is in for disaster. These are our leaders of tomorrow!!

  1. Yes this is true the side affects of these drugs, are far worse than the high they seek, but those are not the only drugs, that's affecting our teens, there are now over the counter sexual stamina drugs now that our teens can buy at any gas station, or corner store, which should be illegal, but it's not, can you imagine the affect, these types of drugs are having on our teen males, self esteem, enhancing what God, intend to come natually, the damage their doing to their bodies, can be irreversible which can cause, major depression, and other health issues, yes I totally agree, and these drugs, should not be made so eazily available to not just teens but anyone, without a doctor being seen first, but there are also enhancers for females as well, this is madness, but there are no regulations set in place,to stop them from gaining access to these harmful drugs, so we must make them aware of the danger in taking these drugs, by talking to our children,it should be awareness going on in the schools, as well, because you would be surprise where a lot of this drug activity is taking place, a lot of it starts in the schools, Peer Presser. 2. Perhaps the youth of today are so completely disllusioned about what the future holds for mankind they seek outlets to make them disassociate from reality. The words hopeless and helpless come to mind. May God help us in this fight against the Dark Cabal. Of course no ones wants things to be served to us on a platter but enslavement?? No thanks !!
