The Green Man

The name Wadjet derives from the word wadj that means green, the green one and was known by the Greeks and Romans as "the risen one" Wadjet is the same as "the Eye of Horus".

The Green Man has many variations and is found in many variations of the world. Primarily it is interpreted as a symbol for rebirth or renaissance representing the cycle of growth each spring.

"Parallels have been drawn between the Green Man and various deities such as the British Celtic Lud, also known as Nodens. Many see him as being connected to the Mesopotamian Tammuz who is thought to symbolize the triumph of Life over Winter and Death, Osiris, Odin, and even Jesus, as well as later folkloric and literary characters such as the Holly King.
A character superficially similar to the Green Man, in the form of a partly foliate mask surrounded by Bacchic figures, appears at the center of the 4th century silver salver in the Mildenhall Treasure, found at a Roman vila site in Suffolk, England; the mask is generally agreed to represent Neptune or Oceanus and the foliation is of seaweed.
Mythical figures such as the Jewish (Elijah) and Muslim (Khidr) mystical prophet of eternal life, Cernunnos, Sylvanus, Derg Corra, Green George Jack in the green, John Barleycorn, Robin Goodfellow, Puck, and the Green Knight all partake of the Green Man's nature; it has also been suggested that the story of Robin Hood was born of the same mythology. A more modern embodiment is found in Peter Pan, who enters the civilized world from Neverland, clothed in green leaves. Even Father Christmas, who was often shown wreathed in ivy in early depictions, has been suggested as a similar woodland spirit."

"In Wicca, the Green Man has often been used as a representation of the Horned God, a syncrete deity that appropriates aspects of, among others, the Celtic Cernunnos and the Greek Pan"

  2. This is very interesting, I have a question. Could this also mean what christains symbolically refer to as being born again? Old things pass away, and all things become new. That would apply to Jesus, if we are crucified, with christ, we are also risen, newbirth. Love you

  3. Thinking about "GREEN";

    Death spots of a drowned body or a dead body dies from hydrogen sulfide poisoning. This is because body fluid includes not only RED protein "hemoglobin" and BLUE protein "hemocyanin" transport oxygen, but also GREEN protein "chlorocruorin and leghemoglobin" transports oxygen and hydrogen sulfide.

    Someone said, there is hydrogen sulfide in the atmosphere around starts.
    Extraterrestrial life could take in hydrogen sulfide from the atmosphere to body fluid to get energy to live.

    In 701, Ancient law (Taihou-ryou) was settled, it's decided to call "Baby" up to 3 years old as "Midori-go" = "Green-(child)"
    Now, we Japanese call "Baby" as "Aka-chan" = "Red-(dear baby)".
