Avatar - A Life in Peace and Harmony

In London December 10, 2009 the film Avatar premiered. It is a film directed by James Cameron.

Jake (a former marine) take his brothers (a scientist) place in a program. It's a story taking place in the future and the people have found a planet filled with a resourse that can give energy and make them wealthy. To get the resourses they need either to kill the population that lives there or make them move.

Jake is sent to Pandora to help the greedy people to get what they want. Jake takes his brothers place and transforms via his mind in to the Avatar made by a mix of Na'vi and human dna - hybrids. In this body Jake feel free again and can use his legs instead of the wheelchair he have to use with his own body. He meets Naytari a Na'vi, and wins her trust. Naytari is given the mission (by her parents) to teach Jake their way and to study him. This was Jake also can study their ways.

During this time Jake changes. He learns to see the nature as for what it is. That all is connected. That none can live without the other. The nature - mother goddess (Eywa) is the one that have the real power and not the people. Entangled emotionally between what he see and what his mission is, for every day that passes he is more and more sure that what the people are about to do in Pandora is wrong. He wants to live in this place where the respect for eachother and the nature is taken to a level he have never seen before. At Pandora all live in harmoy with nature and eachother. The beauty of the connections helps the Na'vi people to survive without material things. They are rich in love and devotion for eachother. And when they say "I see you" they mean they see your soul.

MAKING A BETTER WORLD

What is the meaning of “the world” to us?
How is and which are the conditions in the actual world we are living these times?
Is the world we have now the one we have dreamt for us and our children?
Take some time and think about the wrong things in the world now
What are we able to do for making a better world?


This is an important issue we all need to think about, we all need to take action in a constant way to get the positive results we want to see. If we don´t act, who´s is going to do it for us?

Is time to act seriously if we want to raise the bases to start a significative change that allow us, the Human kind to get a better tomorrow to us and all living beings on it.
We all want a clean environment, a world without pollution, we need to stop abuses against nature and animals.
We want a world where all its inhabitants can count with rights, food, education, health services, worthy work and decent place to live, where we all without distinctions can develop our capabilities and have a fully and peaceful life.

We deserve a world without wars, where governments do correctly their
duties, where can be impossible to them manipulate, oppress or even annihilate its citizens, as for example we currently see countries bombing of up 8 hrs its own people.

It could be interesting to think in our personal values like: Justice, honesty, loyalty, equity, tolerance, responsibility, solidarity, etc. Values help us all to live together in harmony, and are the bases to get our goal, and if we add hope, enthusiasm and decision, our vision of a better world can be accomplished.

We must work all together getting new realities, knowing that every little action we do every single day and constantly, helps to get the better place we dream of.

When we start acting, other people will be interested and will follow us.
We can start with a smile and holding hands all together.
Together we are stronger and we can make a difference.
We can´t stop it.

Memorial Day History

Today is the day we observe Memorial Day.

In 1868, Gen. John Logan, national commander of the Grand Old Republic, proclaimed Memorial Day as a day to place flowers on the graves of soldiers at Arlington Cemetery.

For years, Memorial Day was celebrated May 30. Then, in 1971, Congress passed the National Holiday Act moving most federal holidays to Mondays to ensure a three-day weekend. Since that time, Memorial Day has been observed on the last Monday in May.

Originally, the day was to honor soldiers who died fighting the Civil War. However, since World War I, it has been a time to honor all members of the military who have died in war.

This editorial published in The Oklahoman on May 30, 1912, refers to those who died in the Civil War, but the message the anonymous writer expresses of honoring the dead and the hope for peace still rings true.

“Today a mighty nation pauses to put wreaths on the graves of soldiers. It is a day of thoughts that pertain to the bivouac of the dead.

Flags will be displayed at half mast; mourning will be in use; bells will toll.

Over on the hill where marble shafts mark the resting place of those who fell in the conflict where brother was arrayed against brother, flowers will be placed. The living will not forget the dead.

It is a day of sorrow. The older among us can realize the horrors which the day recalls. The younger generation cannot understand.

Today we should be reminded of peace. If the peace movement had been as strong in 1860 as it is today the nation would not have been plunged into civil strife. Memorial Day should impress upon us the horrors of war, it should make that impression so deep that the peace of the world will be assured.”

Since the Civil War, Americans have lost their lives serving in the Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, the Iraq War and now the Afghanistan War.

In December of 2000, President Bill Clinton signed the National Moment of Remembrance Act into law designating 3 p.m. local time as the moment for a grateful nation to pause and remember.

This is a part of the statement released at the signing:

“Each Memorial Day, the Nation honors those Americans who died while defending our Nation and its values. While these heroes should be honored every day for their profound contribution to securing our Nation’s freedom, they and their families should be especially honored on Memorial Day. The observance of a National Moment of Remembrance is a simple and unifying way to commemorate our history and honor the struggle to protect our freedoms.”

Please take at least a minute today and remember the husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters who have given their lives for their country.

The Natural Disaster

We are thinking of everyone in the path of Hurricane Irene on the East coast of USA at the moment as many are evacuating their homes & businesses for safer ground.

This has got me thinking, there has been so many Natural Disasters that has occurred in the year of 2011 alone I wanted to list them.

Natural disasters have been hitting different parts of the globe. Japan, China, Australia, continuous floods and Brazil mudslides. Every flood came with loss of life rising to the hundreds, even in developed countries. The damages were accounted for billions.

So here it is and the list is pretty impressive (in a scary way) and I have a feeling the disasters will get worse

The True Meaning

On April 6^th, 2012 many Christian’s will celebrate Good Friday, they commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ on the cross.  Many today do not know the true story of The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This is the day in which those who celebrate may go to special church services, fast, or meditate to recognize the sufferings and agony that Jesus endured on that day for our sins. There is actually a week called the Holy Week, in which many different celebrations are held.

The Crucifixion

A group of Jewish leaders hated Jesus because He condemned their sins. They did not want to believe the truth He preached, as He urged them to repent and turn back to God. They became jealous for the great crowds that followed Jesus and believed in Him. They finally decided they needed to get rid of Him by having Him killed. Since the Jews did not have the right to have a man killed without the approval of the Roman governor, they had to take Jesus to Pilate. At the trial they had no evidence of wrong doing by Jesus, but put enough pressure on Pilate that he finally agreed to have the soldiers kill Jesus by crucifying Him.

They took Jesus outside of the city of Jerusalem on a small hill called Golgotha or the place of skulls, sometimes called Skull Mountain. He was nailed to the cross, left to suffer for crimes he did not commit. Even through all of the pain Jesus thought of others before Himself. His words were “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do”. Throughout the time he endured the agonizing pain, He preached. The two thieves that were crucified at the same time, on expressed faith in Jesus, and He answered “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise”. He also asked his beloved friend John to care for his mother, as he would parish soon. Jesus’ final words expressed his complete surrender to the will of God as He said, “It is finished; Father into Thy hands I commend my spirit”. He then bowed His head and died.

The shadow of the cross that was raised on Golgotha reaches across centuries to offer comfort, forgiveness, and hope to us today. The story of the crucifixion is almost unbelievable, for it is hard for us to imagine such love. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” is the message of the golden text of the Bible, John Chapter 3 verse 16.  Jesus had to love us beyond measure to give Himself willingly to die for our sins. To complete the story we return the love by loving him and each other. Though there are many versions of this story. But it is what we take from it that is important. We as humans need to care for our fellow man more then we care for ourselves at times.

Everyday there are those that are crucified for what they believe in, or for crimes they did not commit. It is to our salvation and justice to help those in need.  To understand why some people do the things they do, such as religious practices. The studying of different religions not only brings us knowledge, but can open our minds. Just because you study a religion does not necessarily mean you completely believe in it, you’ve just opened your mind and heart, welcoming others.

The Great Dictator Speech

I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone – if possible – Jew, Gentile – black man – white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness – not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost….

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men – cries out for universal brotherhood – for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world – millions of despairing men, women, and little children – victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me, I say – do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed – the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish. …..

Soldiers! don’t give yourselves to brutes – men who despise you – enslave you – who regiment your lives – tell you what to do – what to think and what to feel! Who drill you – diet you – treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men – machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate – the unloved and the unnatural! Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!

In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” – not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power – the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.

Then – in the name of democracy – let us use that power – let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world – a decent world that will give men a chance to work – that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will!

Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world – to do away with national barriers – to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness. Soldiers! in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Schools Ban Best Friends

There have been recent articles about schools now banning children from having best friends within the school yard. It is said that this practice is being instituted due to children getting upset when their best friend moves away, is bullied, or moves into another group of children and they themselves are not invited. School officials are trying to say they are doing this to save the children the pain of a friendship breaking up. That some children take if very seriously and are deeply emotionally effected.

But isn’t that part of growing up? To learn how to socialize within a group, to learn to accept others even if they are not within their own little group? Granted all children should learn to play together, but we all know that sometimes certain children are attracted to one another for various reasons. Maybe they are only children, maybe they were both abused and they feel only another child that was abused is who they feel safe talking to?

Forming healthy relationships starts from birth on through adulthood. Just because a child doesn’t agree with another ones religion, ethnic background, or some difference doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be best friends. Children need to learn those social skills from an early age. This practice is now being used in schools in Kingston, South West London, and Surrey. What are we teaching our children by this practice?

Child Abuse in America

Our children are our most prized possession. They are our future generation that will guide and lead our country in the near future. All children should be raised in a loving and caring home. But many children today are raised in abusive and neglected homes. When this happens we as caring citizens report abuse or neglect to the proper authorities, usually a governmental agency. These agencies go by the name DHS (Department of Human Services) or CPS (Children’s Protective Services), these agencies job is to investigate allegations of abuse that is reported. This is not always done on a timely basis, and sometimes to late for the child to be safely removed from the home, ending in the death or severe trauma to the child.

When the children are removed from the home they are usually placed in temporary custody of a group home or a foster family. Sometimes though these children are placed with other family members, who the agency shoves the child onto because their case load is to large to handle another child at that time. We trust these agencies to take action fast and to make sure these children are no longer abused or neglected. But what happens when its then agencies fault that these children continue to be abused, even after they are “saved” from the original abusive home?

Each year at least 1000 children die at the hands of whom ever the DHS or CPS hands a child over to for care. Isn’t this an agency that is supposed to be there to help our children, and not to cause any further harm?  These agencies are so over whelmed with cases of children that are abused and neglected that they cannot handle the number of children each year that are removed from their homes. The children are many times bounced from one group home to another, and in the end can be returned to the original abusive home that they were “saved” from.

The physical and emotional effects that this has on a child can last a lifetime. These children usually grow up into adults that commit crimes, use drugs and abuse their own children. These agencies are one of the first that need to be re-evaluated, and fixed so that these children get the proper help they need to grow into healthy adults. Because if we continue this way our world will be in for a lot more hurting souls that float amongst us, not knowing the most beautiful gift…Love.

Bearing Our Own Burdens

We all have our own burdens to bear; no one is exactly that same. Some are more visible then others, there are people who’s burdens we all see, in turn these attract our sympathy. We turn to them and shower them with love and understanding. Then there are those who’s we don’t see, these individuals seem to have it all in our eyes. They seem to have no troubles, no struggles and no load to carry. We envy them, but if we knew the truth our envy would turn to sympathy. The burdens we carry that the world cannot see are usually the heaviest. Just because we don’t see them does not mean they are not there.

Each of us carries our own list of burdens and sorrows; these are our burdens and sorrows that we bear. We may wish sometimes that we could trade places with someone, and deal with their burdens and not our own, thinking our lives would be easier to deal with. But if we took someone else’s place with all its conditions, circumstances, responsibilities, cares, duties and blessings, most would cry out for their own burdens to be returned to them. Usually this is because we don’t know enough about the other person and we think they have it better than us. No one’s burdens are less or more then another’s.

Each of our burdens carry a blessing within, whether we see it at that time or not. If we reflect upon crisis’s in our lives, then remember the outcome we will understand why everything in our lives has a purpose. He who carries his burden and conquers them will be given the strength to sustain future burdens.  This is true of all of us, even our children, we must all learn to live through our mistakes and misfortunes. Each lesson is molding and shaping us into who we will ultimately become, the person we were chosen to be.

We Live In A Material World

Why is this kind of news exclusive when there are 6000 girls a day that are held down and their genitals are cut with dirty tool when there are children starving to death each and every day, when there are people who do anything for power (Including killing and raping)??? 

It is up for each and everyone of us to show what we want to read. It is for us to stop reading tabloids. We need to show care for other people that needs it and not for tabloids that are after your money. Use the money you spend on tabloids to give to people that need them to survive. If we all did that there would not be hunger in the world. The western world have so much more money than we need and others do not even have money to get food (not any food) each day. We live in a material world. Wealth is not about how much things you have or how much money you have in the bank. It is about how much love we have in our heart to share with others.....

THE IMPORTANCE OF LETTING CHILDREN BE CHILDREN

Children should not be treated as small adults, because it alters their emotional and mental growth. There are many parents who think that treating children as small adults, helps them mature more quickly, however, this affects their development and their relationships at school, friends and family.
The fundamental step of any person is childhood, because this is the time most of the memories that make the adult behavior of a person. During childhood, people acquire the traits that characterize the rest of their life. It is also the stage in which major characters are rooted for life; values​​, fears, phobias, good or bad habits and the development of relationships.Children need to learn, but they also need to play, experiment and express themselves as children. Parents teach their children to ask and answer correctly, but they must do it naturally, using the child's language and not expect their children to behave and talk like them.

Some parents encourage cultural activities and positive attitudes in their children, such as reading, classical music, theater and arts in general. They use the right words to refer to objects and animals, body parts and situations. They worry about explaining things as they are, for not to deceive them. This type of education, fosters intellectual and emotional development of children, but the problem comes when it is the only thing that allows them to learn. To grow physically and mentally healthy, children should play and experience all kinds of age appropriate activities. They should be allowed to learn for themselves before discouraging them, because wanting to keep them away from danger tends to be repressive and promote fear in children, to experiment, to fall, and discovering new places and different games.

It is a reality, that now, games, toys and children's activities are related to violent acts, such as video games and the Internet. So as adults, parents have the obligation to review the games their children play and tell whether they are appropriate for their age and explain why. But, there are extreme cases and there is the majority. Children who are forbidden to play any video games or use computers, because parents think they are for fools and foster weakness. These parents think those who only play video games and spend every day watching television. For some parents it is the best way to entertain and to avoid being asked to leave the house and interact with them and with more children. Both cases are detrimental to the development of children.

There are children that their parents only allow them play with puzzles and strategy games. They are not allowed to watch TV on weekends in the morning, do not listen to music according to their age and that their most entertainment is play chess. Those children, do not ask for candy or toys and are not use to playing games or activity involving physical contact. They are children with sad eyes, feel very alone, you can perceive a great bitterness, and all the normal activities of their age, for them, are boring. These children also do not know life with children of their age, and when they do, they tend to be very aggressive. They behave and talk like adults and their parents desire is to turn their child into a genius, forgetting that geniuses are born, not made.

These children, as adults, will probably have a difficult time interacting with others. They do not know how to have fun. Fearful and phobic adults, they probably were children who were treated as adults, forced to mature early. Some of them can not establish loving bonds with their children, play with them, and are also often repressive parents who force their children to act like adults.
Children are children, not adults. Remember that, each stage in life is necessary to live. Our childhood is essential. Please do not kill their childhood.

I was watching YouTube and did see the video below. It is from Britain’s Got Talent audition 2012. It is really heartbreaking to see how people are wrongly judged. Get a tissue before you see this....

Now that you have seen it look again and look close at the audience and the judges, the way they behave before they start singing and when they hear how good it really is.

Something else that is touching the heart so deep is the friendship. They are there as a duo. THE TRUTH OF MODERN WORLD WITH CHILDREN

Approximately half of the 2,000 million children living in the real world have a life raw and brutally different from what we all aspire. Poverty denies children their dignity, endangering their lives and limits their potential. Conflicts and violence prevents them from benefiting from a secure family life and betray their trust and hope.

Some children are abducted, some forced to join an armed group, or made to work hard away from their family, do not live their childhood. Life for those with the greatest misery, do not have adequate food, no access to education, clean water, sanitation facilities or a place to live. A World Fit for Children, contrasts blatantly with the actual childhood of most children of the world. About 29,000 children under 5 die every day due to causes that are preventable.

The life of approximately 1,000 million children are blighted by poverty, despite the wealth of their nations. In the developing world, more than one in three children do not have adequate housing, one in five children have no access to clean water, and one in seven has no access to essential health services. More than 16 percent of children under five years do not receive adequate food, and 13 percent of all children has never attended school.

Hundreds of thousands of children trapped in armed conflict as soldiers, many were forced to fight on the front lines. Since 1990, conflicts have cost the lives of 3.6 million people, more than 45 percent of those killed were children.

CHILDREN'S RIGHTS

The United Nations proclaimed that children are entitled to special care and assistance. Children, for the full and harmonious development of their personality, should grow up in a family that includes an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.Children, for their lack of physical and mental immaturity need special safeguards and care, including appropriate legal protection, before and after birth.

Recognizing that children in all countries of the world live in difficult conditions, and such children need special consideration.Rights for children are necessary that apply to all children without discrimination, regardless of race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, nationality, ethnic or social origin, economic status, disability, or other status, tto help heir parents or guardians raise them.

Children need to be protected from all forms of discrimination or punishment. Every child has the inherent right to a peaceful and fulfilling life. We need to ensure, to the maximum extent possible the survival and development of child.

As we all know Michael Jackson has one of the largest fan bases ever, that any artist could ever have. His music and inspiration of humanity has touched many lives across the globe. With the tremendous growth of the internet, comes a new breed of supporters, especially since his “death” in 2009. Fans from all over the world are able to stay in touch, inspire projects and each other, all coming together for one cause… L.O.V.E.

No artist in history has ever brought this many people together at one time, for any cause. This is an accomplishment that no other artist will ever be able to touch quite like Michael Jackson has. Thanks to some of the large social media networks, staying in touch and communicating has become as easy as a few clicks. Numerous organizations have come together and raised thousands of dollars for hunger, disaster relief, education, and many environmental causes.

One of the most recent organized mass gatherings for a cause has been for the relief of Japan. To help rebuild after the earthquake on March 11^th, 2011. Judgment Upon Others

Our lives take twists and turns, up hills and down through valleys. Everything in our lives happens for a reason. Lessons are learned and burdens are bared, scars are adorned and joys remembered. But, along the journey of life some develop a sense of hierarchy above others that travel the same road as they. Soon passing judgments upon others that walk beside them. Our life choices do not make one better than the other, each life is a journey of individuality, with the common goal of coming together as one in the end for the greater of good.  

People can pass judgment about any subject they can think of, politics, religion, family, career, apperance, raising children, the list can go on forever. Who is right, who is wrong? No one…there are no instructions provided for our lives.  One of the worst things you can do is judge, because you never really understand why someone is conducting themselves in a certain way.  We all have different journeys in our lives.

We grow up in a world full of judgment; this is what makes children feel insecure about themselves as they grow into adults. Usually causing more harm than good to the person. Some grow up with complexes about themselves, and become self destructive because of it. Hurting themselves or those around them, because of what they were judged upon at an early age. Before passing judgment upon anyone else, ask yourself would you want them to judge you?

Isn’t one of the first things that our creator told us not to do was pass judgment? That's our creators job, not ours.
