There was a company that did run a campaign in Africa to sell more of their product. Infant formula.
I will not mention what company this was only that this happened not long ago.
The campaign was that it was better to give your child this formula than breastfeeding. The result was that the mothers did not have knowledge what was best for their child. They did buy this for their children for money they barely had, and gave it to them. The mothers did not have the knowledge and not the possibility to clean the bottles or make sure the water they mixed with was clean. So the result was that they gave their newborn child a dirty formula full of bacterias from a dirty bottle.
This was all for money. To sell a product based on false information.
