Dangers of Energy Drinks

They come under many different brands, Monster, Red Bull,  energy drinks are a huge market currently. But are there real dangers to these caffeine loaded beverages? The answer is YES. In March of this year, a 14 year old child died after drinking two 24 ounce cans. She went into cardiac arrest and died 6 days after laying in a coma in the hospital.

The drinks contain 500 milligrams of caffeine, which is by standards five times what a person should ingest. Those two cans equal up to about 14 cans of Coke. When children ingest these beverages they don’t realize just how dangerous they can be. As there are no warning labels on these products. These products are being marketed toward children, who are oblivious to the potential dangers.

Any substance, including caffeine can have harmful effects, especially on a child. Caffeine overdoes are becoming much too common. The leading culprits are these products. There need to be warning labels on such products, and education for parents. Caffeine is still a drug, we need to understand this!
