12 Deadly Food Additives

In the United States there are more than 3,000 substances that are added to our food, for preservation, coloring, texture, and increasing the flavor. While all of these substances are legal to use, whether we should be consuming them is another story all together. With all the processed foods we consume we are risking our health every day, it’s like trying to decode a cross word puzzle! Of course we all know that consuming fresh foods are the best for us, most Americans don’t practice what they preach. Next time you look at a label, remember these 12 substances, and see how much of them you are really consuming.



1.       Propyl Gallate-preservative, used to prevent fats and oils from spoiling, might cause cancer.

2.       BHA and BHT-preservative, used to prevent fats and oils from spoiling, cause cancer.

3.       Potassium Bromate-used in breads to increase the volume, causes cancer.

4.       MSG-a flavor enhancer, can cause cardiac death, headaches, nausea, vomiting, also is bad for people who suffer from intestinal disorders.

5.       Aspatame-artifical sweetener, causes brain tumors, risk of lymphomas and leukemia.

6.       Acesulfame-K-artificial sweetener, used in bake goods, may cause cancer, can also affect the thyroid gland.

7.       Olestra-fat substitute, in baked goods, causes diarrhea, abdominal cramps, also inhibits the ability for the body to absorb good fats we need in our diet.

8.       Sodium Nitrite-preservative and coloring used in meats, has been found to cause cancer.

9.       Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil-promotes heart disease and diabetes.

10.   Blue1 and Blue2-used in candy, beverages and baked goods, causes brain tumors.

11.   Red3-used in fruits, baked goods and candy, causes thyroid tumors.

12.   Yellow6-used in bake goods, candy, gelatin and sausage, causes adrenal gland and kidney tumors, also has carcinogens in it.



Do you know what you are eating, or what you are feeding to your family? Are you willing to take the risk? We need to institute the basics back into our food chain. We must take action before more people are affected by these terrible additives.

  1. I dont understand. When I pluck the fruit off my trees I cant find any labels. Am I missing something?
